Every family finds its way.
We walk with yours.
A living room for parents who just heard "I'm trans" — and the families who've been walking this path for years. Pull up a chair. Tea's on.
Real faces. Real stories.
Every person you're about to meet walked through our door not knowing what to expect. This is who they became.
Diane Kowalski
"I spent three months Googling alone at 2 a.m. before someone sent me here. The first call I made, a mom picked up who'd been exactly where I was. I exhaled for the first time in months."
Diane joined Affirm six weeks after her daughter came out. She now leads our Thursday evening parent circle and has walked alongside 34 families through their first year.
Marcus Osei
"Before Affirm, I'd practiced my name in the mirror for six months but never heard anyone else say it out loud. The first time someone here used it, I didn't know what to do with that feeling."
Marcus found Affirm through his school counselor and became a facilitator within a year. He runs our Wednesday youth group and is applying to study social work.
Patricia & Tom Brennan
"We almost lost our son. Not to anything physical — to distance. We stopped knowing how to be in the same room. Affirm gave us a language for things we didn't have words for yet."
The Brennans drove two hours to their first session. They now host monthly dinners for new families at their kitchen table — the same one where they learned their son's name.
Simone Tran
"I needed a resource that didn't feel clinical — something I could hand a scared parent on a Friday afternoon and know they'd feel held, not processed. Affirm is that resource."
Simone has referred over 60 students and families to Affirm since 2022. She co-facilitates our Educators in Ally training and helped us build our school counselor packet.
What happens when
nobody walks alone.
Families who walked through our door and found they weren't alone.
Trained community members who've lived it — and stayed to help others through.
Of families who complete our 8-week program report feeling closer and more able to communicate.
Over a decade of community-led, peer-driven support built on lived experience.
"The door was open before I knew I needed it. That's the whole point."
— Renata M., parent, joined 2022
Someone is Googling
right now at 2 a.m.
They don't know yet that there are 1,400 families who've already walked this path. They don't know about Diane, who picks up the phone. They don't know Marcus runs a Wednesday group where their kid might finally hear their own name out loud.
Your gift keeps the door open for them — and for the next family who finds us at midnight, shaking.
